A single filer earning $60,000 in Oklahoma takes home about $1,855.21 per biweekly paycheck in 2026, or $48,235.42 a year. That is an effective tax rate of 19.6% across federal, FICA, and state withholdings.

SalaryTake-home (year)Effective rate

$60,000$48,235.4219.6%
$80,000$62,055.4422.4%
$100,000$75,225.4624.8%

Single filer, paid biweekly, standard W-4, no pre-tax deductions.

Oklahoma withholds state income tax in three steps for 2026, 2.5%, 3.5%, and a top rate of 4.5%, after $1,000 per OK-W-4 allowance and a zero band on the first $10,100 (single) or $20,200 (married). Nothing else comes out for the state: Oklahoma has no local income tax and no employee-paid premiums. Figures follow IRS Publication 15-T and the Oklahoma Tax Commission Packet OW-2 for 2026 (rev. 11-2025).

How Oklahoma paycheck taxes work

Four tax lines come out of an Oklahoma paycheck: federal income tax, Social Security (6.2% up to $184,500), Medicare (1.45%), and Oklahoma state income tax. No Oklahoma city or county taxes wages, and the state has no disability or paid-leave premium, so anything else on your stub is your own election: 401(k), health premiums, HSA, and similar benefits.

Packet OW-2's percentage method annualizes your pay, subtracts $1,000 for each allowance on your OK-W-4, and applies the schedule for your status. Single: nothing on the first $10,100, 2.5% from $10,100 to $11,250, 3.5% from $11,250 to $13,550, and 4.5% above that. Married: nothing to $20,200, 2.5% to $22,500, 3.5% to $27,100, then 4.5%. Head of household uses the single schedule. Because the 3.5% band ends so low, nearly all of a full-time salary is withheld at 4.5%.

Each allowance removes $1,000 of annual wages from the state calculation. In this calculator the Oklahoma exemptions field and the Dependents field each count as allowances at $1,000 apiece, so spread the total from your OK-W-4 across the two. The Tax Commission tables round each period's withholding to the whole dollar; this calculator shows cents, so your stub may differ by less than a dollar per paycheck.

House Bill 2764 collapsed Oklahoma's six brackets into three for 2026 and cut the top rate from 4.75% to 4.5%, with further quarter-point cuts scheduled only when revenue triggers are met. Packet OW-2 for 2026 (rev. 11-2025) already carries the new schedule, so this page uses 4.5%. Oklahoma has no reciprocity agreements, so wages earned in Oklahoma carry Oklahoma withholding whichever state you live in.

Oklahoma paycheck FAQ

How much is taken out of a paycheck in Oklahoma?

Federal income tax, Social Security at 6.2%, Medicare at 1.45%, and Oklahoma withholding of up to 4.5% of annualized wages after $1,000 per OK-W-4 allowance, with the first $10,100 (single) or $20,200 (married) untaxed. There is no local income tax anywhere in Oklahoma. The quick answer above shows a single filer on $60,000 paid biweekly, and the calculator recomputes it for your pay, status, and allowances.

What is the Oklahoma income tax rate for 2026?

Three rates, 2.5%, 3.5%, and 4.5%, with 4.5% the top rate from January 1, 2026. In the withholding schedule a single filer pays nothing on the first $10,100 of annualized wages after allowances, 2.5% to $11,250, 3.5% to $13,550, and 4.5% above; married thresholds are $20,200, $22,500, and $27,100. Calculators still showing six brackets and a 4.75% top rate are using the 2025 structure.

What changed in Oklahoma income tax for 2026?

House Bill 2764 cut the top rate from 4.75% to 4.5% and replaced six brackets with three, effective for tax year 2026, and the Tax Commission's Packet OW-2 (revised November 2025) built the new schedule into payroll from the first 2026 paycheck. The bill also sets up further 0.25-point cuts that only take effect when state revenue growth meets a trigger, so the next change has no fixed date.

How many allowances should I claim on the OK-W-4?

The number your OK-W-4 worksheet produces; each one removes $1,000 of annual wages from Oklahoma withholding, which at the 4.5% band is worth $45 a year. In this calculator, enter your allowances across the Oklahoma exemptions and Dependents fields; both count $1,000 each. Claiming more allowances than the worksheet supports lowers each paycheck but leaves a balance due on your Oklahoma return.

Does Oklahoma have a local or city income tax?

No. Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and every other Oklahoma city and county levy no tax on wages, and the state has no employee-paid disability, family-leave, or unemployment contribution. State income tax is the only Oklahoma line on your paycheck, which is why this page has no local rate field. Federal income tax and FICA are the other withholdings.

I live in Texas or Arkansas and work in Oklahoma. Is Oklahoma tax withheld?

Yes. Oklahoma has no reciprocity agreement with any state, so wages earned in Oklahoma are subject to Oklahoma withholding regardless of where you live, including Texas, which has no income tax of its own. Give your employer an OK-W-4 so the right allowances apply. Whether your home state gives credit for Oklahoma tax paid is a question for that state's return.
