Take-home pay calculator
Updated for the 2026 tax year
Pick a state, enter your pay, and see what lands in your account after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, and your state's withholding. Same engine as the 51 state calculators.
How it works
Federal withholding follows IRS Publication 15-T for 2026 W-4s; Social Security is 6.2% up to $184,500 and Medicare 1.45%. Choosing a state adds its 2026 withholding formula, payroll premiums, and, where offered, a local rate field. Leave the state on "Federal only" to see the federal floor every worker pays.
Every state's formula, sources, and known gaps are documented on its own page and in the methodology.
Frequently asked
Which states have no income tax?
Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. Washington still takes paid leave and long-term care premiums, and Alaska an unemployment contribution.
Why is my paycheck different from this estimate?
Common reasons: pre-tax benefits you have not entered, a W-4 with extra withholding, local taxes, or a state that rounds to the dollar. Enter your stub's deductions in the benefits section for a closer match.
